“Transmission is going bad. The transmission started making noise and stuttering. It was stationary when it was first noticed. As soon as I turned the car on and switched gears the transmission started with a whirring noise. Took it to a garage and they told me it is the transmission pump. Which is a known issue with these vehicles.”

NHTSA complaint #11404763, filed 2021-03, 99,000 miles

“My 2018 Ford Escape lost the transmission on 24/27 albemarle road. I was taking my son for doctors checkup. I was lucky there was so much traffic on my way. Someone could have hit our vehicle from the rear. I managed to pull off to the road. This would have costed our life's has someone hit us from the ream.”

NHTSA complaint #11402853, filed 2021-03, 83,000 miles

“Our 2018 started jerking upon deceleration and at about 40 MPH. I took it to the Ford dealer from which it was purchased, as it is still under warranty. There was a transmission problem. Ford authorized only a repair. We also own a 2014 Ford Escape whose transmission quit while our 2018 was in the garage for service. It is more than coincidence that they both have the exact same transmission! They are faulty and need recalled!”

NHTSA complaint #11328237, filed 2020-06, 22,317 miles

“I had noticed coolant depleting finally got recall. Dealer reprograms now engine is just revving and looses all power to powertrain in multiple situation-3 from stop, 4 while going highway speed with constant speed prior each time the engine rev's up while giving no power. Then will spontaneously resolve within about 50ft then seems fine. I have video of the car doing this while I was attempting to get on the highway. We looked at oil and there is milk looking residue. …”

NHTSA complaint #11307471, filed 2020-02, 62,000 miles

“I have the 6F35 transmission in my 2018 Ford Escape. On 11/12/24, while driving, the transmission had a catastrophic failure. The vehicle started jerking, it would not move when giving it gas, and the transmission was whining loudly. After taking my vehicle to a Ford dealer, I learned that the pump inside of the transmission flew apart, causing the transmission to fail and to get metal shavings throughout the transmission and oil cooler system. There was no warning. The vehicle drove normal until it didn't. I never got a warning light, even after the transmission completely failed. …”
