“The contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH, the secured trunk suddenly opened independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the trunk latch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.”

The vehicle was towed to a mechanic, who diagnosed the failure at the throttle body. The vehicle was repaired and the throttle body was replaced. In addition, the rear hatch door could only be opened electronically and not manually. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000 and the approximate current mileage was 43,100...updated 09-18-13”
