“My son was driving to a school event saturday night when the car stalled and the throttle position light came on. He was able to get it of the side of the road safely. I put a scanner on the car and it said throttle control module was stuck open, but when I started the car it ran fine. I think this is a serious issue that needs address by Ford.”
NHTSA complaint #10546058, filed 2013-09, 51,235 miles“I was driving vehicle onto entrance ramp of freeway when the power suddenly cut out and the car coasted. The wrench light illuminated on the dashboard. I was able to steer the vehicle to the side of the road. I called a Ford dealer and had the vehicle towed. The throttle body had a fault in the system and was replaced at a cost of nearly $300.”
NHTSA complaint #10544313, filed 2013-09, 47,864 miles“I was driving on the highway when my car seemed to stall out even though it is an automatic. I pulled over to the side of the road and turned the car off. I turned it on again and it seemed fine. I continued driving and it did the same thing. I took it to my mechanic and he told me that it was a faulty throttle body and needed to be replaced.”
NHTSA complaint #10547848, filed 2013-10, 36,000 miles“Vehicle failed to accelerate, lost power and it was necessary to coast to a stop on the side of the interstate. Vehicle continued to idle very roughly. When I depressed the gas pedal the motor would not rev up and remained at an idle. Necessary to tow vehicle to dealership and I was informed it would be necessary to replace the throttle body.”
NHTSA complaint #10556204, filed 2013-12, 53,770 miles“I pulled out of my street on to a main road and with no warning my Escape shut off completely while driving and multiple cars almost hit me because it was so unexpected. Now my car randomly shuts off and goes into limp mode, causing it to be quite dangerous to drive my vehicle because it gives you no warning.”
