“The image in my reverse camera on my dashboard is upside down when I put the gearshift in reverse. Impossible to see if anything is behind me. I have not had it looked at yet by a dealership. Just began happening a few days ago. No warning lights at all came on. There are examples of this happening to other cars on YouTube. Seems like a common but dangerous problem with certain Fords.”

NHTSA complaint #11572364, filed 2024-02

“My 2015 ford ecspe se back up camera just stop working it would show a white screen flickers back and forward then all of suddenly it go to a black screen at first it look like it was some kind of message but couldn't really see what it said because of the flickering we thought it was the fuses but that's not the case it is a safety hazard for the back up camera not working.”

NHTSA complaint #11490425, filed 2022-10

“At least once per day the back up camera goes black. While I am in the act of backing up or starting to back up. This has been happening for over 3 years. No one believed me at the dealership for years. Now there is a recall finally recognizing the issue and Ford can not fix it. I am left dealing with this. Also electrical issues with the car doors not opening with code or key fob, back windshield washer blades going off unexpectedly and they would not stop until I shut the entire car down.”

NHTSA complaint #11758702, filed 2026-08

“The rear camera has increasing failures. It goes to black multiple times while in reverse and takes a few seconds to get the image back. It is available for inspection upon request. It has put my safety and the safety at others at risk due to the sudden changes. There is a recall for other Ford models for the same thing. I think this recall needs to be expanded to include Escapes. There are no warning lights. It first happened a few years ago, but is increasing in frequency.”

NHTSA complaint #11690239, filed 2025-09

“The vehicles rear view camera works intermitantly - sometimes it is blank, or upside down and sometimes it works - as I saw they are recalling 2019 models with the issue I think my 2015 model has the same issue. Please issue a recall on this model aswell thank you”
