Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“When I put the car in reverse the back up camera glitches. It freezes, flips upside down, turns black, sometimes all of those things. The beeping sound does not warn when objects are near when this is happening. It happens about 95% of the time. The camera is only functional about 5% of the time. Due to this issue I have been in several near accidents”

NHTSA complaint #11672935, filed 2025-07

“The rear backup camera is malfunctioning; I researched vehicle recalls and found Ford does not have a remedy for this recall. This puts my family in a dangerous situation when backing the car up. I have damaged the vehicle while driving in reverse and lucky to have not sustained injury from this occasion. Why has Ford not come up with a remedy and has not been held accountable.”

NHTSA complaint #11738327, filed 2026-05

“This recall has been going on for almost a year. And I was having problems for at least a year or two before that it’s to the point where we’re almost every time I try to use it it says unavailable. This is a safety concern as a backup camera is a vital safety feature. Ford is taking a long time to fix this issue.”

NHTSA complaint #11759188, filed 2026-08

“My rear camera and therefore cross traffic and parking indications fail almost every time I turn my car on. Ford acknowledges that this is a problem and that there is a recalled part, but they do not have replacement parts and so I must continue to drive with faulty parts.”

NHTSA complaint #11750383, filed 2026-07

“Rear view camera stopped working almost a year ago, and out of no where the transmission stopped working. I recently just got an oil change and asked for the works to get my whole car checked out and that report as all the reports before it came back with no issues. So found it surprising that this happened.”
