“My 2006 Ford Expedition shut off without any warnings in the midst of me driving the truck everything shuts down it's hard for me to steer my vehicle and the brakes locks up this was so scary driving the expressway and trying to maneuver a stalled vehicle”

NHTSA complaint #11097889, filed 2018-05, 138,000 miles

“I went to move my vehicle from the front of my house to the drive way and it wouldn't stop, I pressed on the brake pedal and heard nothing but air as the brake pedal went straight to the floor. I stepped on the emergency brake to stop the vehicle and when I got out.. There was a huge puddle of brake fluid beneath the vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10512575, filed 2013-05, 59,851 miles

“Twice in last week, driving at slow speed and engine fail safe mode light comes on. Lost power, braking, and steering. Forced to put car in neutral while car was rolling to restart. Rolled right thru stop sign. Restarted fine, luckily. In second event, almost got hit when turning left across oncoming traffic! Started turn and couldn't stop turn due to loss of braking. Fortunately, first time I tried the restart in neutral and it worked, otherwise I would have been hit in second event or hit something since I couldn't steer.”

NHTSA complaint #10490170, filed 2012-12, 106,500 miles

“I have a 2006 Ford Expedition and my wife almost lost control and hit a car when the brakes went to the floor. The vehicle has had spongy brakes since I bought it and had it to the dealer twice. There is a TSB to replace the front caliper/rotor and pads and Ford did this but it still feels spongy and is now leaking fluid. This has been an issue on many expeditions and should have been a recall rather than a TSB. This is an incredibly dangerous situation when the brakes fail. I know I have had instances where I literally need to stand on the brakes to get the vehicle to stop.”

NHTSA complaint #10341811, filed 2010-07, 46,000 miles

“Brakes failed in panic situation on dry road. Brakes grabbed and then completely let go when antilock system took over. There was no surge in the pedal as it went completely to the floor. My road speed was 35 MPH when I hit the brakes and I would say their was at least 100ft between mine and the stopped vehicle in front of me. I thought of swerving to miss it but was sure I would at least slow enough to only bump the vec. In front of me. The guy I hit said he heard a chirp and a couple seconds later got hit. There where no skid marks that I know of. …”
