“Oem hankook tires on 2017 Ford Explorer: with less than 15,000 miles on my 2017 Explorer, it began to hydroplane at much lower speeds than when new. The tires are oem, hankook, ventus s1 noble. I took the car to fugate Ford, who said they recently processed two other vehicles with bad hankook tires. On closer inspection with doug at fugate, you could see the tire tread was ripping away from itself all the way around the tire. Fugate took pictures and phoned hankook. Fugate called me to say that because the tires had 6/32 tread remaining, they would not process the claim. …”

NHTSA complaint #11165810, filed 2019-01, 14,500 miles

“The vehicle and its wheels with only 16,000 miles has deep cracks and cuts on the sides of the tread, threatening future breakage or explosion. As forementioned the vehicle undergoes regular maintenance as well tire rotation. There is no reason for the wheels to be this damaged with so little use. Tires: hankook tipe: ventus s1 noble size: 255 150/20 105h DOT 5mnc 1a h (1817) quantity : 5”

NHTSA complaint #11414671, filed 2021-04, 16,000 miles

“Hankook ventus s1 noble2 (excluded from recall) are wearing extraordinary fast and the rubber is starting to pull apart, flake away. Chucks of rubber are coming off of the tire and leaving holes that appear to be about 1/4 inch deep . This will be our second set of tires with the same issue and the vehicle has only 40,000 miles.”

NHTSA complaint #11150869, filed 2018-11, 40,000 miles

“Vehicle vibration at 60 MPH. Service department did installed road analyzer and performed nvh diagnostics . All tires balanced within 1/4 oz, found two rear tires with 5015 miles on vehicle to have road road force of 18-20 lbs on each of the rear tires. Diagnosis replace tires!”

NHTSA complaint #11291089, filed 2019-12, 5,015 miles

“First complaint is the paint is peeling and bubbles from the front of hood. This was fixed by Ford 1 year ago and told was not sure why this was happening. Now again all along hood at front same problems. Second complaint. The rear tires are wearing at the outside and inside of tread. The drivers side seems to be worse. It needs tires now due to safety concerns that I know have. The vehicle seems to be unsteady at grade changes in roadway especially on the freeway.”
