“When the vehicle is running the exhaust can be smelled inside the cabin. This happens to a noticeable level when the vehicle is excelerated at a faster pace by pressing the gas pedal quickly to excelerate quickly. This has occurred multiple times and can be reproduced by fast exceleration. The consumer stated the rear left tire blew out. The passenger was injured.”

The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power with the TPMS warning light illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle was leaking coolant. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.”
NHTSA complaint #11472801, filed 2022-07, 150,000 miles“Had new tires put on my 2014 Explorer. They are showing wear on the rear ones. Now it handles very poorly on roads that are grooved. Need to have both have hands on the wheel with a good grip to keep it on the road. Feels like the rear is trying to pass the front. Going back to the Ford dealer next week. Hopefully they can repair this problem. Perhaps recall 21S31 will address this.”
