Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I purchased my 2019 Ford Explorer in march 2019. I have now replaced all 4 hankook tires. The tires have had cracks, tears, holes, and were shredding. Each tire faulted at different times. I had a blow out on the highway. Hankook was contacted by the dealership and myself. Hankook blamed me on the first tire. I have now found a hole and rips all over the 4th tire. The dealership claimed it manufacturer fault. I cannot reveal my age but I have owned many cars. I have never had any other car do this but my 2016 Ford Explorer. This car had hankook tires. …”

NHTSA complaint #11325081, filed 2020-05, 9,000 miles

“While driving from virginia to florida, towing small u-haul trailer, wheel lugs sheared off, causing wheel to come off belt rolling the vehicle. Vehicle is brand new, I am the one and only owner from the dealership and never been worked on.”

NHTSA complaint #11222300, filed 2019-06, 5,200 miles

“I was traveling on the interstate (~75 mph) when the rear of my vehicle suddenly jerked to one side with enough force to cause a loss of control. There were no lights or warning sounds to indicate that there was anything wrong with the vehicle in that moment or leading up to it. I was fortunate enough that no contact was made with any other vehicles as my car crossed all three lanes; from the center lane to the far right and then back across all three lanes to the far left. The car skidded off the highway and slid onto a sloped embankment before it stopped. …”
