NHTSA complaint #10086818, filed 2004-08, 27,671 miles“January, 2004, the first real load in my new 2003 Ford f-350 super duty truck, was my harley-davidson flhr. It loaded with no apparent problems. On off-loading of the motorcycle, as the rear tire rolled onto the leading edge (lower edge) of the tailgate, the tailgate crushed. I spoke with the purchasing dealers service manager who agreed that the problem was unusual and probably shouldn't have happened. However, he would not warranty the tailgate. I was referred to the Ford factory service rep. He agreed that he didn't think the tailgate should have failed, but had no basis for warranty. …”
NHTSA complaint #10060587, filed 2004-03, 6,400 miles“The contact owns a 2003 Ford f250. The contact noticed that the frame underneath the vehicle was covered with rust. He also noticed that the rust was affecting the drivers side door panel. The dealer did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The manufacturer also offered no assistance. The current mileages were 65,000 and the failure mileages were 50,000. Updated 5/24/11 updated 06/10/11”
