“Throttle had it fixed with recall, it lunges you into traffic while stopped. Again it has done that now failed, this is a dangerous car. It is garage kept and well maintained went down to get gas, mail and while stopped it jerked me out of the stopped position into the mailbox then the wrench, traction and engine light came on and it bucked till I got it 10 feet to the garage no, it will not start!!! …”

NHTSA complaint #11011594, filed 2017-07, 102,650 miles

“I had just driven to my brother's house in wv. My wife and I got out of the car and went inside. About 15 minutes later my brother saw smoke in the window and saw that my car was on fire. We all went outside and while they called the fire department I tried to put the fire out with a hose. I could only knock it down some to keep it from spreading but when the fire dept got they put it out.”

NHTSA complaint #10187705, filed 2007-04, 20,000 miles

“The Ford Five Hundred's engine shuts off as you turn the wheel, that's how it started out. A few days later, the car's engine would shut off just driving straight down the road. After the engine shuts off the steering wheel will lock up and not move. I was lucky enough to be able to pull over and turn the key to off position. After turning key to off position, I turned the car back on and it drove fine until I either turned a corner or it just shut off as I went straight. …”

NHTSA complaint #10417275, filed 2011-07, 83,000 miles

“I have a 2007 Ford Five Hundred which constantly accelerates unintentionally. It also has begun to loose acceleration and lunges every time I press the gas peddle which almost caused an accident on the interstate.”
