“I had this car repaired twice at a professional mechanic shop that cost me thousands of dollars. Every time, the car comes to stop or dies on me. I replaced the fuel filter one time that is underneath the car. Now the car is sitting in my garage because of the fuel pump not functioning and does not make that sound anymore when you turn the key on.”
NHTSA complaint #11338439, filed 2020-07, 220 miles“Car is leaking fuel from the gas tank area, looks like its leaking from the filler neck. At times it leaks a considerable amount. I'm also having surging issues. Mainly at low speeds. The vehicle has also shut down in the middle of traffic. These problems truly concern me and I question the safety of the vehicle and my children and myself while in this vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #11308904, filed 2020-02, 170,000 miles“2007 Ford Five Hundred bucks forward or reverse when shifting gears!.we have almost hit people, other cars, and have lunged into traffic at stop lights.this is a hazard and Ford needs to do something asap!!!!!!..I am taking it in to the dealership today in hopes of getting this fixed as we have 3 small children and I would hate to be in an enormous accident!!!!!!!”
NHTSA complaint #10410637, filed 2011-07, 75,000 miles“I own a Ford 500 2007. The engine seems to rev up with out pressing the gas pedal. If you are at a stop sign and release the brake the car will lunge forward on its own. I spoke to a mechanic about this problem and he has encountered it before with other 500's. He told me its the throttle body. He told me when he orders them they are on back order.”
NHTSA complaint #10358588, filed 2010-10, 34,000 miles“I put my car in reverse to back into a parking space and the car engine accelerate as if it I was on the gas pedal going 50, except I was on the brake. If I am sitting at a red light the car engine accelerate I noticed that the RPM needle will go up to 3 sometime 4 if I am not careful to keep control of the car it will take off so I have to be careful to keep my foot on the brakes.”
