“The driver's seat belt occasionally fails to fasten properly. It seems to click into place, and there's no warning light or chime, but then sometimes it comes loose again afterward while I'm driving. Sometimes I can tell that something seemed maybe off -- I'll give it a tug, and maybe half of those times I had a suspicion, it pops free. It's happened probably about 10 times in the time I've owned the car (since 2010), most recently today (3/22/14), so it's normally fine. And it always goes in fine again afterward. …”
NHTSA complaint #10574202, filed 2014-03, 80,000 miles“My car was hit head on, the passenger side seat felled to hold and all the slack came loose causing the passenger to hit the dash. The air bags felled to deploy. The passenger could have been really hurt or worse, could have went through the wind shield. Contacted Ford motor and would get a written response in six weeks. Received a phone call a few days later telling me to work with my insurance company to get it repaired. I asked to be compensated for driving this car for seven years with an defected seat belt with I purchased new. Ford showed no interest in this issue.”
NHTSA complaint #10592960, filed 2014-05, 157,000 miles“In june of 2009 I took my 2007 Ford Focus in for regular oil changing maintenance as well as to find out while the seat belt light came on when my seat belt was latched. The service attendant checked the seat and stated there was nothing wrong with the seat belt. Well a few weeks after that the light continues to flash only now the seat belt isn't latching properly. I again spoke with a representative who now informs me that my warranty expired and it will cost me $379 to correct this problem because not only do Ford has to fix the latch but it also has to be rewired. …”
NHTSA complaint #10305204, filed 2010-02, 58,000 miles“The airbag light in the dashboard stays on all of the time. The driver and passenger seat belt comes unbuckled sometimes for no apparent reason, and has been doing this since I acquired the car in 2012.”
NHTSA complaint #10956703, filed 2017-02, 128,000 miles“In a head-on collision the driver's seat belt disengaged throwing driver through passenger side windshield. The armrest between the seats which is positioned right over the seat belt latch and is on a goose-neck mount collapsed and released the seat belt. This resulted in serious injuries.”
