“With cruise control set, pressing the + button and holding for a few seconds to increase the speed a few mile per hour will cause the vehicle to continue accelerating until the 'cancel' button or the 'off' button is pressed. Pressing the brake pedal will also stop the run away acceleration. During the run-away accelerating, pressing the + button or the - button will not stop the acceleration. Additionally, with cruise set, pressing the - button for a few seconds will cause a run-away deceleration. The vehicle is presently being looked at by the dealership where it was bought. …”
NHTSA complaint #11222323, filed 2019-06, 260 miles“I have a 2019 ford fusion turbo engine and everytime I accelerate the turbo is wicking into the pcm the control module which is causing hazards sucking as at random times whenever I turn left the steering wheel with get stuck and the brakes will lock for a couple seconds and then go back to normal. I had Meineke do a diagnostic on the car and they showed oil in the pcm aswell as the loss of connection between the pcm and its sensors. They drove the car and while driving the car going 20mph the car is reading as going 100”
NHTSA complaint #11684917, filed 2025-09“This has happened multiple times now. Always happens at high speeds (greater than 45 mph). I will be driving on a highway when I unexpectedly lose the ability to accelerate. First noticed in correlation with the collision detection feature showing on the display as NOT FUNCTIONING. That does not happen anymore, but I still lose the ability to accelerate periodically. Once I can safely remove myself from the flow of traffic and stop/restart my car the issue is resolved. Makes me believe this is electrical/computer origin. …”
NHTSA complaint #11566251, filed 2024-01“Major safety concern. The vehicle gets stuck in first gear while the engine is running and the brake is released. It used to only do it when the vehicle had the engine auto-shut off featured turned on but now it does it permanently. I stopped driving the vehicle because there is a high risk of causing an accident.”
