“Power steering unit was excessively noisy and distracting... Locks up on hard turn. Dealer says nature of the beast, won't replace it. Complained 3 times, car just went out of warranty... Several hundred local police cruisers have had their power steering replaced, by dealer after negative publicity on tv...dealers attempt to make you out as stupid, and keep obfuscating till you just go away.”

NHTSA complaint #10185621, filed 2007-03, 27,985 miles

“While driving at any speed heard a grinding sound coming from the steering column. The noise sounded like there was no fluid in the reservoir when it was actually full. Dealer examined the vehicle, and claimed that the steering was working normally. Power steering will lock up and will not be able to steer vehicle, this could cause an accident. Also, problem with rear defroster. Consumer believed that there should be a recall of all vehicles 1999 and up.”

NHTSA complaint #10059455, filed 2004-02, 13,892 miles

“I was making a turn around a corner from a stop going at approximately 7-10 MPH when my 2004 Ford Mustang started going out of control, pulling to the right into another lane and heading in the direction of the curb, I tried to regain control of the vehicle but the vehicle seemed to be pulling from the back, it eventually ended up doing a 180 degree turn into the other lane , fortunately there was no oncoming traffic in that lane. Road conditions were dry and normal. …”
