NHTSA complaint #10509713, filed 2013-04, 10,727 miles“The contact owns a 2010 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH the rack and pinion unit malfunctioned. The rack and pinion makes the vehicle difficult to steer. The contact has taken the vehicle to the dealer who has not found any defects within the rack and pinion. The contact is afraid to drive the vehicle. The failure mileage was 5,813.”

The contact stated that the steering wheel was abnormally hot and the front of the vehicle was shaking. In addition, the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v319000 (air bags) but the part was not available for several months to receive the recall repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed that there was no part availability date for the recall. The failure mileage was not available. Vin tool confirms parts not available.”
