“I have a 2000 Ford Ranger xlt 3.0 liter at 39,000 miles my antilock brakes went out. They stop working and made my stops during bad weather more dangerous. My speedometer and odometer stop working at around 64,000 miles and was not able to afford the repair. I have been calculating the speed over the past 7 years and the mileage.”

NHTSA complaint #10269797, filed 2009-05, 64,900 miles

“There is a lot of frame rust on my truck. Especially where the frame connects to the bed. I had to replace both the rear spring shackle brackets, both broke off because of rust. Twice there was a hole in the brake line, luckily I saw this when the car was parked and now while I was driving which could have been very dangerous. The rear bumpers paint has peeled off and the now is very rusty and it could fall off at anytime.”

NHTSA complaint #10446117, filed 2012-02, 60,000 miles

“Brake pedal on initial press would go to the floor and hit the back stop. A pump would create some pressure but a hard press would still hit the back stop. Dealer confirmed loss of pressure and replaced master cylinder. This is the third on this truck. Previous owner replace master cylinder once and this is the 2nd replacement since I have owned the vehicle. I replaced the master cylinder previously at 96,836 miles.”

NHTSA complaint #10423770, filed 2011-09, 123,088 miles

“Abs brake light on. Speedometer not working engine light on. Changed ABS sensor. Engine light went out. Speedometer working but will bounce around when directional is put on or when foot is applied to brake. Abs sensor light is still on. Called Ford and told them I noticed a recall on some of these rangers for the ABS sensor they are telling me this vehicle is not on the list. Well it should be.”

NHTSA complaint #10209890, filed 2007-11, 129,000 miles

“Occasional loss of all braking power. 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4 pick-up. This vehicle on several occasions in the past two months without any notice has had complete or drastic braking power loss. There are no indicator warning lights of any type to indicate there is a problem. On two occasions I almost hit other vehicles in the rear due to brake failure and my wife failed to stop at a stop sign and went out into the path of an on coming vehicle. (no accident).”
