“While my truck was sitting in the parking lot at work I came out for a brake and I noticed that the bed of the truck was sitting against the cab. This truck is washed and kept out of the weather and it seems strange that the frame is rotten before the body is. I know that the rocker panels and fender wheels normally rot out but they are still mint.”

NHTSA complaint #10627788, filed 2014-08, 150,000 miles

“I recently bought this vehicle and only noticed how severe the rust was after the purchase. My vehicle is extremely rusted on the bottom and has several rust holes on the front passenger side of my vehicle. Knowing that at any moment one bump could finish the job and blow the frame off is not great. A recall for the extreme rust damage would be greatly appreciated since I have no other way to fix this.”

NHTSA complaint #11013784, filed 2017-08, 179,000 miles

“Approx 10 minutes after I had gotten home I heard a noise and looked outside.. It was 1:20 a.m; I called the fire department because the whole front end of the truck had caught on fire. An explosion completely blew off the hood. The temperature of the fire was hot enough that the alternator had melted off of the truck itself. No injuries occurred from the fire. Fire is still under investigation.”

NHTSA complaint #10542846, filed 2013-09, 200,000 miles

“Bought truck for my son for 3,500 a month later frame rusted thru. Stopped him from driving it death trap ett auto sales gave me 1000 dollars back burned me for 2500 . Springs were coming off .frame other side cracked. Sparetire rusting off.this vehicle should be crushed.”

NHTSA complaint #10534474, filed 2013-08, 10,423 miles

“I own a 2000 Ford Ranger, in short the frame has rusted and broke causing loss of brakes and total loss of the use of the truck! Apparently this is not the first complaint of this type and I think Ford motor company should have to make it good , the truck is in great shape with less than 100,000 miles!”
