“I have a 2000 Ford Ranger xlt 3.0 liter at 39,000 miles my antilock brakes went out. They stop working and made my stops during bad weather more dangerous. My speedometer and odometer stop working at around 64,000 miles and was not able to afford the repair. I have been calculating the speed over the past 7 years and the mileage.”

NHTSA complaint #10269797, filed 2009-05, 64,900 miles

“Cruise 'control devices on numerous Ford vehicles have been recalled. Ford is disengaging the devices and does not have adequate parts to repair them, consumers are not advised of this until the device has been disengaged. At which point - in my case with a 2000 Ford Ranger I was advised the parts would not be available till december - I have now been advised that the parts will now possibly be available mid-march. …”

NHTSA complaint #10210883, filed 2007-12, 131,000 miles

“Two times on 3/2/12 I took my foot off the gas to stop at a stop light and when I started to brake the truck accelerated. The first time was on wet roads so I could slow it down enough with the brakes while the tires were burning to get it into neutral and then got it stopped. Later the same day it happened again this time the road was dry and no matter how hard I pushed the brakes I could not get the truck to stop before hitting a car stopped in front of me before I got it into neutral. I am scared to drive the truck! …”

NHTSA complaint #10450570, filed 2012-03, 77,957 miles

“My 2000 Ford Ranger was recalled due to a defect in the cruise control. My dealership disconnected the cruise control in november, 2007 and as of today, still has no idea as to when a replacement part will be available.”

NHTSA complaint #10227758, filed 2008-05, 90,000 miles

“I experienced sudden, uncontrollable acceleration while driving at approximately 15 MPH on a suburban street. The accelerator pedal went to the floor and was seemingly disconnected from its linkage. I was able to stop the vehicle by turning off the ignition, thankfully before encountering another vehicle, pedestrian or obstacle. My vehicle is a very well maintained 2000 Ford Ranger xlt with about 68,000 miles. The vehicle was towed to a local garage who repaired it promptly. …”
