“Started to smell burned wires in car. Look under dash and smoke and wires where burned. Brake lights dont work. Reading online and other issue with this car and people where having same issue. When I called dealer they said theres nothing they can do because they are no more recalls on that. But I think this is a safety issue and can cause great danger.”

NHTSA complaint #10715627, filed 2015-05, 235,000 miles

“Light switch in my 2000 Ford Taurus wagon, why Ford will not replace this light. Knob listed in the recalls 01v075000. Have been trying to have them replace it since 2001. They say I must buy the hold light switch with the knob and pay for it to be installed. I only need the knob I patch it up and it is still working, but is this Ford quality I don't think so.”

NHTSA complaint #10157914, filed 2006-05, 20,000 miles

“2000 Ford Taurus, brake lamp switch always stays on. Nhtsa shows that there was a recall for this problem. Ford would not honor the recall on my car and replace the faulty brake switch, dealer said my car was not one of the 157,000 cars effected. So I had to pay $213.00 to have them replace the faulty brake switch that was a problem listed as a recall on NHTSA. Nhtsa recall no. 01v078/Ford recall no. 01s08.”

NHTSA complaint #10021298, filed 2003-06, 43,515 miles

“I am having issues exactly as described in NHTSA campaign id number: 04v106000. I have a 2000 Ford Taurus where the the stomp lamp malfunctions when using the brakes. When I called future Ford of roseville, ca in the automall they looked up my VIN # and informed me that this recall is not in their list for my vehicle. But that the owner of the vehicle had the stop lamp replaced already in year 2000 for the same symptoms. I told them that this is a safety recall of the same year, make and model as my car with the same exact symptoms as found in the NHTSA recall article. …”

NHTSA complaint #10412428, filed 2011-07, 119,000 miles

“The brake system in our car has not performed properly on wet roads many times. On jan 21st, 2002 and mar 13th, 2002, we asked muzi Ford to fix this problem. They could not find the problem. They reported, it is common to confuse ABS activation with difficulty stopping . In fact, our car is not equipped with ABS. On the morning of jan 17th, 2003, my husband was driving in the slow lane of I-95; the car in front of our car came to a sudden stop. He immediately braked. …”
