Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“The brake system in our car has not performed properly on wet roads many times. On jan 21st, 2002 and mar 13th, 2002, we asked muzi Ford to fix this problem. They could not find the problem. They reported, it is common to confuse ABS activation with difficulty stopping . In fact, our car is not equipped with ABS. On the morning of jan 17th, 2003, my husband was driving in the slow lane of I-95; the car in front of our car came to a sudden stop. He immediately braked. …”

NHTSA complaint #10008341, filed 2003-03, 32,151 miles

“First our car engine light came on and started blinking. We had to have it towed in to an auto repair shop and have it checked out. While they were checking out the car, they found a problem with the fuel rail pressure range and performance and the fuel level sensor ckt fault. The car also showed that it needed a major servicing. Two months after the car was serviced, I was heading home. On a busy hwy, when all of a sudden my car starts acting like it is out of gas. My gas hand said the car still had a 1/4 tank of gas. So I didn't know what was going on. …”

NHTSA complaint #10087046, filed 2004-08, 94,165 miles

“Broken speed control cable. Broken in the same place as pictured in many online photos as being recalled yet the Ford dealer says this car is not covered. Same thing happened with a 1997 Ford explorer with broken sway bar link. Does anyone research the recalls, they are not complete. The NHTSA is no better than the bbb. Just a complaint blog.”

NHTSA complaint #10870094, filed 2016-05, 76,000 miles

“Front, and rear coil springs, possibly- fuel pump, all failed in Ford Taurus 2000 sel 66k miles. This could cause driver to loose control, loss of power on highway. These problems could lead to serious injury. The coil springs are well know but Ford will not replace rear coil springs... Fuel pumps seem to go out in this car around 60k miles...”

NHTSA complaint #10179029, filed 2007-01, 67,000 miles

“Car fails to accelerate at times. Gas pedal is depressed but engine does not seem to be getting fuel. After repeated attempts -- hitting accelerator -- engine will suddenly catch and lurch forward. Seems to be a throttle problem, but Ford dealer will not address. Even though car falls in recall range for 2000-2003 tauruses with sticky throttles (recall was issued in 2013), dealer says it is not on recall list. Over 450,000 vehicles are -- but apparently mine is not one of them. Seems like a very dangerous situation to me. …”
