NHTSA complaint #10069218, filed 2004-01, 200 miles

“I have a 1993 Ford Taurus 3.0 v6. I have read about the 3.8 v6's with head gasket problems. At just 71000 miles I have the same problem. I purchased this vehicle from my parents, who bought it new. My father is a retired nyc transit authority mechanic, and he was meticulous about the upkeep of his vehicles. Now I am face with an automobile that is nothing more than a huge paperweight.over the last few years it seems that I was just throwing good money after bad. A couple of hundred here, $700 for a complete overhaul of the A/C system, etc. …”

He then tried to restart the vehicle but it failed to start. The vehicle was the towed to his residence where he notified a local mechanic who stated that the fuel pump caused the failure. There were no repairs made to the vehicle. The failure and current mileages were 162036.”

NHTSA complaint #10315193, filed 2010-03, 162,036 miles

“While driving vehicle would stall out. Would have no warning. Vehicle can be restarted. Problem is intermittent, would occur mainly in hot weather. Would hesitate while going at highway speed. Taken to dealership numerous times & to an independent mechanic. Fuel pump and sensors were replaced, but problem was not resolved.”

NHTSA complaint #853449, filed 1999-11

“Windshield wipers slow down and then quit when placed in high speed. Has to turn off and then turn on again to low speed to clear windows during rain. Also, fuel injection system given $900.00 overhaul by Ford service paid for by customer since engine intermittently misses/bogs down. Can't afford to spend more on repair.”
