Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“When I collided with a Ford truck all my air bags deployed as they should, I could not move without intense pain in my lower back so I sat in place until removed by ems. After partial recovery I examined the vehicle and saw that the seat belt anchor bolt over my shoulder had bulled out of the pillar behind my seat (not the floor). I was on a city street moving at about 45 MPH. A truck turned in front of me and we collided head to head. Damage on my vehicle was primarily on the front drivers side.”

NHTSA complaint #11171603, filed 2019-01, 50,000 miles

“Side sliding door hinges have broken and had to be replaced several times. It has been an ongoing and unresolved issue with the side door. The side door does not close properly and currently will not close or latch making it undriveable as it will slide open if attempting to drive. Car was parked on flat surface when attempting to close door that would not latch.”

NHTSA complaint #11394892, filed 2021-02, 70,000 miles

“Passenger side sliding door opens while driving down highway, latch system not adequate for size of door. Has opened several times when passenger leans against door on highway, or when small bumps on the road or driven over. Door is difficult to close and open. No amount of adjustment can remedy problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11242285, filed 2019-08, 60,000 miles

“Our passenger sliding door does not securely latch/close. Ford refuses to repair it. This defect was reported to them shortly after our purchase. We now drive with a non-secure passenger door.”

NHTSA complaint #11217690, filed 2019-06

“The contact owns a 2016 Ford Transit. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the interior door handle detached, trapping the contact inside the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had been diagnosed by an independent mechanic and determined that the failure was with the door handle bracket and switch. The door handle was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 145,561.”
