Example complaints

One per model year, chosen for length and detail. Personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

2020: “The sway bar on my rv sitting on the ford f53 chassis bolts came out 3 of the 4 and tore the brake line in half (possibly only the ABS line). This vehicle has less than 4,000 miles and I have had to fix a lot of their quality control issues. This could have killed someone though. Consumer has attached additional photos with sway bar is missing bolts on each side of mounting brackets, which caused the sway bar to pinch in half of ABS line.”

NHTSA complaint #11416799, filed 2021-05, 4,000 miles

2011: “In 2013 we were traveling to texas on interstate 10 in louisiana when we heard a loud noise and harse vibration in the rv we were able to pull over on the interstate and looked under the rv to see a piece of steel wedged under the rv and shearing itself into the asphalt. We were able to remove it with some difficulty put it in the rv and continued on our trip terrified of what was wrong. We called Forest River and emailed the attached pictures and they had no idea what this was. …”

NHTSA complaint #11072141, filed 2018-02, 4,500 miles

2004: “We bought a new motorhome in 2/06 and it has just shut down in traffic on us in 5/06 (in a ford repair shop for a week) & 6/06. We lost ability to steer and to brake, so it's huge safety hazard. It's in a ford repair shop again, today is the 11th day, & they can't figure out what is wrong with it, so it probably won't be fixed right again!!!!”
