“Hyundai Motor America and Genesis Motor America are recalling my 2017 Genesis G80 vehicle to address a risk with anti-lock break system (ABS) modules because it could malfunction internally and case an electrical short over time potentially resulting in engine compartment fire. I contacted the dealership and they claim that do not have the required part to resolve the issue. Also they do not have an estimated delivery date for the part. Please advise.”

The check aeb system warning indicator illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was approximately 8,300.”

NHTSA complaint #11075173, filed 2018-02, 8,300 miles

“Regarding NHTSA recall report #21v-160 there seems to be some confusing information regarding action to be taken by the vehicle owner. In the section description of the safety risk it says that there is a risk of a fire when the vehicle is parked or driving . In the section description of remedy it states customers can continue driving these vehicles . It seems based on these two statements you're taking a chance of a vehicle fire if you continue to drive. The first statement says the problem can occur while driving and the second says you can still drive the vehicle. …”

“The contact owns a 2017 Genesis G80.
