“Drivers side seatbelt buckle unlatches at random times without being touched. Driving or stationary makes no difference. Passenger side seatbelt will not latch. There appears to be a piece missing inside the buckle.”

NHTSA complaint #11183794, filed 2019-03, 126,000 miles

“- the contact stated that the seat belt intermittently failed in the2007 Gmc Yukon with 300 failure mileage. The third row rear passenger seat belt locked properly, but when removing the child from the seat, the seat belt would retract, which caused bruising to the arm and chest of the child. The dealer stated that the seat belts were within safety standards. The current mileage was 500 .”

NHTSA complaint #10187478, filed 2007-04, 300 miles

“Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 Gmc Yukon. The contact stated that the seat belt buckle in the rear middle seat was fractured and would not latch. The dealer (Gmc ford in bakersfield, ca) was contacted and stated the vehicle was out of warranty. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure was not repaired. Additionally, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. …”

NHTSA complaint #11004816, filed 2017-07, 101,000 miles

“The side air bags on the passenger and driver side front and back deployed while driving down the road. The driver side airbag hit my 19 year old son in the side of the face hard enough to cause his ears to ring. There was not a reason for the air bags to go off spontaneously. He had to pull to the side of the road blindly because he didn’t know if he had been hit by another vehicle. We have filed a complaint with GMC. …”

NHTSA complaint #11418955, filed 2021-05

“My 2007 Gmc Yukon seatbelts in 3rd row of seats locks up when car is in motion. If my child is in their carseat it locks them where they cant move and breath. They cry and I have to pull over on highways, etc. To unlock seatbelt all the way back. Even unhooking from the child safety seat. It is very dangerous and is a safety concern. Gmc referred me to you all instead of addressing the issue. Seems to be a seatbelt defect that needs a recall for yukons.”
