“March of 2009, I bought a set of prime well ps830 tires from firestone for my 98 Honda Accord v6 sedan. Since the first day of purchase, I noticed unusual shakes from my car at highway speed. The matter gets worse in recent months as I noticed loud road noise and vibration from the tires. It is very difficult to drive my car at highway speed now. I have balanced the wheels at the time of purchase and many alignments since then. …”

NHTSA complaint #10316802, filed 2010-03

“I purchased a full set of futura 775 p205/65r15 tires for 1998 Honda Accord on 05/01/2005 from pep boys store. Within aprox. 6 months, two of the tires developed broken/ separated belts causing severe handling/ drivable problems. The store was reluctant to replace all tires, but replaced the two faulty tires with 2000lte tires. Now a third tire has developed the same issue. I replaced it with a good used tire and have kept the broken one for possible return to store.”

NHTSA complaint #10189200, filed 2007-04

“The contact owns a 1998 Honda Accord. The vehicle has nankang ultrasport ns2 tires (na). The contact stated that the tread was separating from the tires. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle began to shake and the front passenger side tire blew out. The mechanic stated that the tire split. Since that time, two other tires have begun to experience tread separation. The tires were purchased five months ago. The tire mileage over the past five months was 20,000 and the remaining tread depth was 80%. The contact does not remember any adverse road conditions at the time of the failures. …”

NHTSA complaint #10274765, filed 2009-06, 178,000 miles

“Had 4 tires and valve stems on a 1998 Honda Accord replaced in april of 2007 at gold coast auto center. In september of 2008 the first valve stem failed. Luckily I noticed the tire was continuously getting low only when the car was driven at highway speeds and was able to get the stem replaced before it caused a crash. The second stem failed in december of 2008, again while driving at highway speeds. In a water bath, the stem only leaked when it was flexed toward the outside diameter of the wheel. …”
