“This is the second time that the oil pressure light just comes on in the car, it starts bucking and is impossible to drive. I was on a 50 MPH highway both times it happened. I'm lucky no one hit me. I only have 17,000 miles on my car. I have had 4 oil changes, one tow and 2 check ups on the vehicle for oil related problems.”

“I have a 2009 Honda Accord that has stalled twice in the last two months on the highway while I was decelerating. I brought it to the dealer both times and they were unable to find any problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10341305, filed 2010-07, 31,000 miles

“I own a 2009 Honda Accord ex-l. I am having problems with the engine not accelerating when needed to in emergency. I have come close to accidents twice so far on the highway since the car would not give me pick up when I needed to steer clear of trucks and cars. I have complained to two dealers, one in new jersey and the other in mass. Both dealers told me that the car is fine when it isn't. At full throttle going from 1000rpm upto 6000rpm there is no pick up what so ever. It is the same as going normal speed and pick up. …”

NHTSA complaint #10324359, filed 2010-04, 1,200 miles

“My 2009 Honda Accord ex with only 32k miles on it started to consume oil very quickly. While the % oil life remaining indicator said I have 30% life remaining, the dipstick did not register any oil on it. I'm glad that I checked, because I shudder at the possibility of a car crash due to the engine dying on the highway. When I took the car to the dealership, they handed my a printed out sheet that stated that a loss of 1 qt per 1000miles is considered normal. How is that possible??? This is a serious defect that Honda does not want to admit to.”

NHTSA complaint #10358110, filed 2010-09, 32,900 miles

“I have a 2009 Honda Accord. I began having problems with the A/C not cooling, so I took to the dealership for assessment. I was informed that a line was not working and I had a freon leak. They placed dye in the fluid to determine where the leak originated. They determined it was coming from the condenser. This part is located in the grill of the car and isn't protected in any way and they decided it had been damaged, without proof, from something I had hit, such as a rock. They then inform me that my full warranty does not cover it, and informed me it would cost $432.00 to repair. …”
