“Lkas, acc and pre-collision braking all fail intermittently. I have taken the car to two separate dealerships for diagnosis. The first advised me to replace the optical camera, the second advised me to replace the microwave radar, but neither would affirm that the replacement part would eliminate the intermittent failures. When the system fails, all associated safety features as well as cruise control are disabled for the duration of that trip.”

NHTSA complaint #11399618, filed 2021-03, 62,000 miles

“This is an ongoing problem - -- On startup, the vehicle reports 4 system warnings that shut off the cruise control and ABS brakes as well as the other safety systems. This is an intermittent problem. -- The dealer states that the camera is dead and wants $2,500 to replace and calibrate it. This is a common response from dealers I see in all the forums. -- I have found a work-around that is not documented in forums yet. …”

NHTSA complaint #11700136, filed 2025-11

“The multifunction ADAS camera module failed due to Internal Error at only 9 years old. This means that critical safety systems such as automatic emergency braking/lane keep assist malfunctioned and could not assist with avoiding collisions. I took the car to the dealer and they confirmed the issue, and charged me $2000 to fix this critical safety system. I noticed that the new camera assembly has an updated part number, indicating that Honda might have been aware of this failure issue. …”

NHTSA complaint #11718974, filed 2026-02

“Twice in the past month the steering has frozen on my 2017 Honda Accord hybrid, making it nearly impossible to turn the wheel manually. Fortunately on both occasions we were driving at low speeds on city streets and could pull over or drive slowly to a destination. There were no warnings that the steering was about to freeze, but both times the automatic lane departure light came on. In the second instance I was driving on a narrow street and I was not outside of my narrow lane or I would have hit the curb or oncoming cars. …”

NHTSA complaint #11458940, filed 2022-03

“I have had two major issues with my 2017 Honda Accord sport since buying it brand new that the Honda dealership will do nothing about even though I’ve specifically been told twice on two separate occasions that the car was manufactured defected. My mitigation systems has failed multiple times where it just stops responding losing control of the steering and accelerating on its own. One of those times caused me to run off the highway into the ditch. It just randomly iluminates all “mitigation systems failure” at the most random times. …”
