“Hello- my wife was involved in a accident on 9-28-16. She hit another car on its side. The other cars airbags deployed however her's did not. She was driving about 25mph but could not stop in time. She was on a city street going straight. We wanted to make sure that the airbags were operating correctly and not involved in the takata recall. Thanks”

Bounces back 23 feet and stops. Gear shift is still in park and car is running. Air bag inflates and alarm goes off. Turned off engine and removed key.”

The most interestingly in entire incident was the air bags did not inflate or even come out upon impact. We have taken it to jack of diamonds in tyler for the first recall.”

NHTSA complaint #10513928, filed 2013-05, 6,725 miles

“The vehicle was involved in a head on crash with frame and structural damage to the entire front end at speeds of 30 miles per hour, hitting a stationary truck on a city street. The air bags did not deploy.”

NHTSA complaint #10915953, filed 2016-10, 45,000 miles

“I was in a motor vehicle accident, and when the airbags deployed. A woman, who leaned into the passenger side of my vehicle to see if I was hurt, said she could smell something burning and saw the sleeve of sweatshirt jacket on fire. Had she not checked on me, the sleeve of my sweatshirt may have burned all the way up my arm. As I only have use of the arm that caught fire The vehicle is at a body shop, waiting for insurance issues to be worked out. I’d never had an opportunity/reason for the airbags to ever be looked at.”
