“My 2025 Honda Odyssey has experienced an intermittent failure of the Auto Idle Stop system on four separate occasions. While stopped at a traffic light, the Auto Idle Stop system shuts the engine off as designed. When I release the brake pedal to proceed after the light turns green, the engine fails to restart automatically. Instead, the dashboard lights illuminate and flash, and the vehicle displays the message Press brake and START button. Pressing the START button once does not restart the engine. …”

NHTSA complaint #11746676, filed 2026-06

“The Auto Idle Stop system on my 2025 Honda Odyssey fails to restart the engine when the brake pedal is released quickly after a full stop. When this occurs, the vehicle stalls completely in traffic and must be manually restarted by the driver. This has happened multiple times and is reproducible. The failed component is the Auto Idle Stop/engine restart system. The vehicle is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of others has been put at risk multiple times because the vehicle stalled at traffic lights in active traffic, leaving me unable to accelerate through an intersection. …”

NHTSA complaint #11728735, filed 2026-04

“The contact owns a 2025 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the contact released the brake pedal and depressed the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact believed that the failure was related to the gas saving feature. The vehicle then stalled, but was able to be restarted. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 11,390.”

NHTSA complaint #11709772, filed 2026-01, 11,390 miles

“Van completely shut down while in an intersection and the battery light came on. It was hard to restart. Took it to the dealership and they cannot find the problem.”
