Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“When the automatic dimming headlamp is turned on, the headlamps do not perform as expected. When the bright lights finally did turn on, they didn't dim with an approaching vehicle. I reported it to the dealer, and they told me of a fix but that was for turning the headlamps on at dusk not dimming the headlamps”

NHTSA complaint #11712347, filed 2026-01

“The automatic high beams on my ridgeline tend to be a saftery issue the do not function correctly many owners report they have this issue as well there has been no damage yet however they have not worked since factory I've asked the dealer about it ans have been told it's normal”

NHTSA complaint #11769777, filed 2026-10

“Automatic high beam function: Does not work properly, most road signs turn the high beams off, sometimes the high beams turn back on when another car is approaching. They don't activate at all until you speed reaches 45 mph. This is the same issue I experienced with my 2021 Ridgeline. The only difference is that on the 2021 model the function activated at 35 mph. This feature is basically useless and Honda should not be permitted to advertise this feature until corrected on all affected years.”

NHTSA complaint #11695394, filed 2025-10

“I want to bring to your attention what I consider a safety concern with the 2025 Honda Ridgeline Black Editition that I just purchased and an important feature that does not function properly. My concern is the the Auto High Beam Headlight feature. This is one of the features for which I choice to purchase this particular pickup truck. The issue/problem is as follows. The auto high beam feature is very slow to respond and extremely inconsistent as to when and why the headlights switch from low beam to high beam and vice versa. …”

NHTSA complaint #11633502, filed 2025-01

“The auto headlights do not come on and if they do they almost always turn off immediately. The will not come on at speeds under 25 and this is too slow. To cap all of this they randomly come on when cars are driving towards you even though I have tried to disable this feature totally. They are a safety hazard and used to work on older models flawlessly.”
