“The starter on my 2025 Honda Ridgeline is bad. I got stranded at an intersection with my kids multiple times. I've done research and found this is a noted problem with the start stop feature especially hot starts. There are so many problems I've read that the starters are back ordered 7-10 wks. Please look into this more and issue a recall.”
NHTSA complaint #11770733, filed 2026-10“Engine Stop/Start turned off when trying to make a turn. When it did the steering would not move. Also when Stop/Start turns off it was dangerous when turning. I email Honda and they called me back. They could have it disabled but it would cost $80 and I would have to buy the part and they would install it. This is a new truck bought last month.”
NHTSA complaint #11657197, filed 2025-04“Over the past several months, the auto idle stop on my 2025 new honda ridgeline has been acting up, not always kicking off timely when lifting my foot off the gas pedal. It also completely failed to restart twice, disabling the car completely while at a traffic light until I could restart it. The first incident was late last year. The most recent one this past Thursday.”
NHTSA complaint #11733733, filed 2026-04“Auto start stop system. Shuts off engine at stop lights, will fail to re-start engine when I release the brake and step on the gas. Has happened several times. Came close to being rear ended. Dealer service manager told me to dit the disable switch every time I start the vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #11769046, filed 2026-10“While sitting in traffic with my 2025 Honda Ridgeline, with the engine stopped as the brake had been fully applied, when I released pressure off the brake, my vehicle would not restart as it normally would in this situation, thereby stranding me in a serious traffic situation. I notified the police and my vehicle was eventually towed to the nearest Honda dealer to try to determine what the issue was . Scary situation since my vehicle only has approximately 25K miles on it.”
