“The engine 1st stopped 2 weeks ago at a red light. I say stopped because that is exactly what it did stop, no warning light or signal. It simply stopped. Had to get pushed off the road. Started after 15-20 min. Took it to mechanic, found nothing wrong. Sensors, gas, electric. I cant do nothing, no symptoms. 2nd time it stopped while driving. Still rolling, I guided the vehicle of the road. Started after 10-15min. 3rd time at a convenience store called the first mechanic he said to call him when it stopped again. He could use a portable gage while it was in the stopped state. …”

“For reasons unknown I was at a stoplight. The car started shaking, and the check engine light started blinking, and then the light went off. Also, the steering wheel locks up at times and I’m unable to to move the steering wheel because it’s locked.”

NHTSA complaint #11679167, filed 2025-08

“After seeing a mechanic the problem was a rod bearing connector failure which caused metal shavings to clog and restrict the oil flow, starting as a small knock and quickly turned into a loud horrible knock, power failure and ultimately my engine to seize. the same engine as the 2015-2016 Velosters recall, a 1.6L gamma gdi engine, the same exact issues and problems accrued and caused that’s specific model to recall, but I believe that many more models with this specific engine are faulty due to the same problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11588081, filed 2024-05

“I was entering highway on entrance ramp there was a loud pop and I could see plumes of smoke coming from under the car, so I turned the ignition off on the car and pulled over to the shoulder, the brakes failed so I had to let it coast to a stop. Then I waited until I could safely exit the vehicle and did so quickly. I had the vehicle towed to a local shop, and they told me I should report it. There was no warning that it was about to happen and yes its available for inspection still sitting at the shop I had it towed to. …”

NHTSA complaint #11612925, filed 2024-09

“I received a paper saying I had multiple recalls. Abs Fuel Replacement, Anti-Theft Ignition Protector & Decal Install, Anti-Theft Steering Wheel Locks.”
