“I was backing out of my garage. My son had his car parked behind me. I saw that I was going to have to pull up to get around the parked car. I put my foot on the brake, I then put the car in drive. Took my foot off the gas and it took off at rocket speed. I wasn't completely out of my garage. The car was going so fast and I couldn't stop it. I was 6 ft from the brick wall. I was going so fast that I went through the brick wall and it didn't even slow down. It kept going took out a chain link fence. Then came to a stop and died. …”

NHTSA complaint #11072912, filed 2018-02, 33,000 miles

“Well it only happens on hot day or in summer. In stop and go traffic. While I'm driving the car all of a sudden gas fumes fill up the inside of my car so bad that I gottta pull over for a while. The other day it happen to me again and I almost passed out while driving. I've taken the car to the dealership several times before and they tell me that theirs nothing wrong with it or they don't know what it is. I've ownd the car since it was new and it's been doing this since then. Now that it almost made me black out while driving was the last srraw for me. …”

NHTSA complaint #11241660, filed 2019-08, 52,000 miles

“I had to put in a date to make this work this a problem from the first day I bought the car. From a stop if I accelerated to a few miles per hour and for some reason I had to stop, when I pushed down on the accelerator nothing happened. After a second or two the car jumped forward and if another car was close I would have I would have rear ended it. Obviously, I am extra cautious and have avoided this problem. I reported it to the dealer twice and got the same answer, oh they all do that. The dealers are protecting Hyundai. Who will protect me? …”

NHTSA complaint #10552549, filed 2013-11, 150 miles

“Two weeks ago, my 2013 3.8 v6 Genesis sedan stalled when I was about to turn right into my driveway. Both the street and my driveway have a little of an incline (maybe 5 degrees). After the engine stalled, I noticed the fuel tank was on the near-empty side and the range indicator indicated the remaining range was 40 miles. I was able to shift the car to park and re-started it to pull into my garage. This engine stalled problem had happened to my wife twice around the same spot within the last six months. We took the car to a Hyundai dealership to have them look it over. …”

NHTSA complaint #10606872, filed 2014-06, 22,750 miles

“While rolling slowly, then accelerating to cross 3 lanes of traffic, mainly in local town driving, the car seems to stall and then suddenly accelerated very quickly. This has happened at least 10 times in different situations I.e.: changing lanes quickly after rolling, while waiting for an opening in traffic. Have brought car back to dealer many times with the same complaint. Once they said they updated the transmission. It did not help. The last time they said don't use the eco mode, it creates a slight hesitation. …”
