“My car has started jerking when up shifting and seems to only be happening when the car has not warmed up. Then today while driving on the interstate at 78mph my car lost power. Not completely. Almost like something gave out and I lost the forward force I was going. It also became louder, almost like a lid hum. When you accelerate the vehicle does not want to go”
NHTSA complaint #11397054, filed 2021-02, 133,000 miles“There is sometimes hesitation after coming to a stop. This is especially frightening at busy intersections. I push on the gas and the car does not move. It has occurred at least 20 times, but it happened yesterday afternoon at a busy rotary. I have seen many other complaints, but Hyundai has no solution as of today. I am afraid this is going to cause a serious accident eventually.”
NHTSA complaint #10995823, filed 2017-06, 14,500 miles“My car only has 34,184 miles on it and while slowing down to exit a highway, the check engine light started blinking and the car went into low power mode - wouldn't go over 2000 RPM's. Had car towed to dealer and they tell me I need a new engine and it will take a month to fix!!!”
NHTSA complaint #11191437, filed 2019-03, 34,185 miles“There's always a 2-3 seconds hesitation in situations where acceleration is necessary. After 2-3 seconds of hesitation after stepping on the pedal for acceleration, the car revs and produces high pitched and loud sound with no acceleration or accelerates abruptly. Quickly merging into highway, making turns, changing lanes from a full stop and slow movement feel like playing russian roulette. Hyundai service center always claims they cannot replicate my complaint and my concern is ignored.”
NHTSA complaint #11221894, filed 2019-06, 500 miles“Acceleration problem. Some times turning left either from a complete stop or a slow turn when I press on the gas it takes off and then hesitate for few seconds and then takes of. It is so scary when you have traffic coming towards you. Now it is starting to do it more and now its doing it when I turn right. Have read several complaints with the same problem and can not believe nothing is being done about this. As usual someone has to get killed before this is taken serious.”
