“Press the start button and the car doesn't crank to turn on. Power to all other systems appears fine. I put the car in n then back to p and was able to turn the car on. Change battery and the battery on the key. Still having issues. No-start, no-crank due to gear selector range switch I was informed by Hyundai that my 2012 Sonata was not included in there campaign”

NHTSA complaint #11058143, filed 2018-01, 120,000 miles

“Sometimes when I press the gas, the car will basically take an extra second to speed up, and probably 70% of the times that I press the brakes to slow down or come to a stop, itll (also) take an extra second and itll stall/jerk 1 time, then finish slowing down or stopping....its gradually been getting worse as time passes...the engine needs some work definitely! (I'll feel much more safe after this engine recall is fixed!)”

NHTSA complaint #11386346, filed 2021-01, 150,000 miles

“The car will turn off while driving. We tested the battery and the alternator and everything else that will be the issue but everything is working fine and maintenance is up to date. We dont feel safe driving the car”

NHTSA complaint #11176388, filed 2019-02, 49,000 miles

“While driving 25 miles on walnut st in rialto ca .all of a sudden my hybrid Hyundai Sonata made a grinding noise and stop responding I avoid hitting a car infront of me and approached the side walk messing up my right front bumper, when I finally stopped I put the car on park and it made a nasty grinding sound. I tried to put the car on d and it wouldn't move I put it on r and nothing. It was a very scarry experience, I want to know if there is anything you can help me with if there is a recall on the transmission because thats what it sounds like. …”

NHTSA complaint #11353895, filed 2020-09, 149,346 miles

“While sitting still at stop light on a city street with foot on the brake pedal and in drive- the car lurched slightly like it was trying to go forward. The brakes stopped it from moving.it felt a bit like the car shifted to a another gear.the whole event lasted about 2 seconds. Otherwise the car behaved normally. This has happened three to four times since we bought the car new in dec. 2011. A disturbing event. We would like to know if others have encountered this, and is it dangerous?”

NHTSA complaint #10826058, filed 2016-02, 38,000 miles
