“As I was pulling out into traffic, the throttle went unresponsive. I pumped the accelerator three or four times and the vehicle lurched forward then begin driving normally. There was no check engine or other warning. I took the car into the dealer and they hooked it to a obd and drove it, to no avail. Has therein a any report of this problem by other oweners???”

NHTSA complaint #11389804, filed 2021-01, 48,000 miles

“I was in motion on the interstate and service engine light popped on and it was told it ended up being the camshaft. On my way to shop the next day my car cut off on the interstate and everything worked but car would not crank. Was told it was engine. I had no warning and yes my oil had been changed.”

NHTSA complaint #11407378, filed 2021-04, 158,000 miles

“I had taken the vehicle to the dealership for a clock spring recall. I picked the vehicle up and the check engine light was on. I took the vehicle back to the dealership and they informed by the check engine light was caused by the high pressure fuel pump failure. This seems to be a know problem with this make/model/yr vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #11246060, filed 2019-08, 5 miles

“My fuel gauge is no longer reading the fuel level. I fill my tank to full and it tell me that I am empty. Fuel indicator comes on and fuel gauge goes up and down. I have to manually calculate and estimate how much fuel I have left. This is a common issue on Sonata's as there are many others reporting and is not a recall yet.”

NHTSA complaint #11207914, filed 2019-05, 110,000 miles

“Having purchased the aforementioned VIN last month, the break lights stay on even tho the car is off, thus draining the battery. With a heightened fear of being rear-ended, or worse, for the now we disconnect the battery cable. Also, the car wants to stall when stepping on the gas pedal, the acceleration is delayed, this at any speed. Fearful of the engine catching afire, we appreciate post haste.”
