“Took our car in for the fuel line recall in september 2020. Since october we have been smelling gas here and there. This past week it hasn't gone away. Fuel is now leaking from the fuel line that they zip tied back together. The dealership said they only inspected the line and everything was fine.”

NHTSA complaint #11378580, filed 2020-12, 87,000 miles

“I was driving 60 miles an hour on 15 s 930 am in the fast lane. Ok had a 3/4thba tank of gas when my car shook and then the speed declined rapidly. I put my hazards on and moved over basically glided to the side of the road. The car was dead. Lights and radio worked but nothing else. I had it towed to Hyundai hendersen. 4 recalls on the engine and it could have killed me if a car was behind me.”

NHTSA complaint #11231763, filed 2019-07, 139,000 miles

“The gdi high pressure fuel pump has a big problem. The car will read empty with a full tank in the car. The spring loaded fuel pressure pump will seize or either temporarily stop working. My car has 62,500 miles and always has been serviced. I have talked about this part with many dealerships and it's the number one part on the car that sells because how faulty the part is and goes out quickly. …”

NHTSA complaint #11217131, filed 2019-05, 62,500 miles

“Once my Sonata hybrid reached 105000 miles it has reflected the exact issues of the other 2.4l engines. Loud knocking, lack of acceleration above a certain RPM and unable to go above 60 MPH. The car is currently sitting in the drive way since it sounds like a rod is about to rip through it. The oil light comes on but only when turning. We have been denied since this VIN is not included in current recalls. All recommended maintenance has been done since we bought it brand new.”

NHTSA complaint #11325359, filed 2020-05, 103,000 miles

“I was driving on the freeway at about 50 MPH when my car completely shut off. All the dash indicator lights illuminated. I tried to press the accelerator and nothing happened. I had to make my way to the side of the road with absolutely no power which was frightening. When I got to the side of the freeway, I was able to come to a complete stop. After realizing that my car had in fact, shut itself off, I tried to restart it. First try, it started! What is wrong with this car that it can shut off, then be fine right after? …”
