“I was driving home from dinner on may 1, 2021 on us highway 75 traveling north my check oil light came on and then moments later the engine light came on and the battery light came on , all lights were flashing in my dashboard I pulled over and within seconds my car was engulfed in flames. I escaped with my life!”

NHTSA complaint #11416607, filed 2021-05, 140,000 miles

“The motor blew up at 72k miles it is a salvaged title so the warranty was void but everything that I researched said Hyundai had a motor problem with this year of motor. They claimed it was only the sonota covered I really don't believe they make different motors in each vehicle with the same size motor. We were driving this vehicle when the motor blew up.”

NHTSA complaint #11256503, filed 2019-09, 72,000 miles

“I was driving on the hwy ( approx 50 MPH ) when the car completely shut down. Car would not turn over on the side of the road. Got towed home and tried to start the car again. Engine turned over but immediately started knocking very loud. Turned the engine off immediately. Towed the car to the local mechanic to verify my initial diagnosis. Complete engine failure at 50k miles.”

NHTSA complaint #11256919, filed 2019-09, 49,500 miles

“May 10th, 2018 while driving on the highway, I heard a strange noise and my car would not accelerate. I managed to make it home and my husband said to have it towed to dealership, engine was knocking. The safety risk would be the car suddenly stalling in the middle of highway traffic. The dealership confirmed it was engine failure.”

NHTSA complaint #11142129, filed 2018-10, 87,588 miles

“My car was making a clicking / knocking noise so I took it into the Hyundai dealership in lancaster, pa. My car has 53,000 miles and now a dead engine. How does that happen in a newer car with not that many miles? They told me I can replace it with an older engine that has 2x the milage than my car for $6,000 or get a new car.”
