Example complaints
Engine: “I was driving down the highway and noticed my car did not want to pull when I sped up. A few more miles down the road I noticed smoke coming from my tail pipe and the my air vents. So I pulled over, got out, and walked around to the front of the car and noticed what looked like oil on the side of my car. By this time fire started coming from under the hood. Within minutes my car was blazing and a total loss. What happened to my car? That's what I really want to know. How does a 2015 Jaguar with only 36,000 catch and fire and burn up.”
NHTSA complaint #11133135, filed 2018-10, 36,000 milesElectrical system: “I was driving my 2015 Jaguar XF on 290 east bound in worcester ma when the vehicle lost power and broke down on the side of the highway barely in break down lane. It broke down due to oil leaking on the alternator which caused it to fail and the vehicle to break down. The oil leak was caused by a faulty gasket. I complained to Jaguar corporate and they will not do anything about it even though this gasket is known to go in the jaguars and land rovers. I called aaa and they had to call an officer do the location of my vehicle. This should absolutely be a recall for this gasket. …”
NHTSA complaint #11318826, filed 2020-03, 55,400 milesFuel system: “The contact owns a 2015 jagura XF. The contact stated that the engine stalled while driving. The vehicle was taken several times to the dealer for repair. The dealer performed a diagnostic test, which located a failure code at the fuel system. The low pressure fuel pump was replaced; however, the failure was not corrected. The fuel lever provided the incorrect reading and caused the vehicle to stall. The manufcturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000.”
NHTSA complaint #10936405, filed 2016-12, 13,000 milesSteering: “My vehicle has about 68k miles, I have always serviced the vehicle properly. While driving the car my steering locked up and my vehicle lost all power on a busy road with my children in the car. Luckily we are safe but this is very dangerous. I have had the car inspected by several certified and insured mechanics and the engine pulley broke off of my engine block causing my entire engine and steering to shut down. …”
