“My 2022 Jeep Compass is stalling when I break going downhill. I have had it scanned and it stored codes are P032F and P2172. The combustion engine producing insufficient torque and sudden high airflow detected. I believe its a ruptured brake booster diaphragm dumping unmetered air into the intake. NHTSA has a open investigation into Compasses stalling while driving and Im filling the complaint to request a goodwill repair.”
NHTSA complaint #11771046, filed 2026-10“The auto stop has stopped my vehicle at a light and failed to start back up. On several occasions I have been at a red light, and my car refused to take off, like it is just stuck. I have to put the car in park and restart. The auto stop is very dangerous, I have to turn it off when I get in my car. ( I have to warn family when they are using my car) A few times I have forgotten. I have taken my car to 3 jeep dealerships and they say they cant find a problem. They is an issue and no one is hearing me.”
NHTSA complaint #11641055, filed 2025-02“Note: The vehicle is totaled, and GEICO Insurance is in possession. A month ago, we received Brake warnings. We brought the vehicle to a mechanic to get checked and it passed. We did not get the warning again. 2 weeks ago, while turning into our driveway, as we were almost stopped, but still in the turn, the vehicle made a noise similar to the Auto Stop/Start feature. The power brakes and steering stopped working (everything was stiff). The car accelerated, and we hit the corner of our garage (because we did not complete the turn into the driveway). …”
NHTSA complaint #11726640, filed 2026-03“This vehicle has two dangerous issues: 1) It brakes unexpectedly and for no reason during drive. This has happened to me at least 3 times while driving on the freeway without any cars close in front or around me. Bells and whistles just go off all of a sudden and vehicle brakes for no legitimate reason, throwing me forward. 2) This vehicle stalls while driving. This has happened to me 6 times. Engine just falls dead while in drive. I have to put it in park and restart the engine. This could get me killed.”
NHTSA complaint #11493177, filed 2022-11“The vehicles emergency brake engages itself while the vehicle is in drive. I’ve reported this to my dealership, they say they’ve never heard of this issue. I’ve reported the issue twice. This is an obvious safety issue because the vehicle is randomly braking and coming to a complete stop while it is in drive. The brake signal comes on and there is no way to regain control of the vehicle unless you put the car in park and turn it off and on again. The emergency brake button also does not work during this time. This often happens when driving after a stop light. …”
