Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Mechanic inspected as part of potentially buying the vehicle. I had expressed concern over how it was driving. Ball joint is bad. I researched online and saw a lot of issues with this and was hoping that a safety recall was in place for it! (I did find a warranty extension for the subframe, and it is still good -- so it might be worth buying if safety issues are fixed.)”

NHTSA complaint #11290194, filed 2019-12, 147,000 miles

“The subframe has corroded causing my tire to break while driving down a city street. There is a problem that chrysler is aware of but has not to informed the public only service. If I have been driving on the freeway this would of been a horrible accident and could of caused bodily harm.”

NHTSA complaint #11361147, filed 2020-09, 76,600 miles

“My sister was driving my vehicle. She felt car wheels pulling to one side. Vehicle began to veer out of control where she tried to stablize. Picture taken after accident shows that bottom frame of vehicle became unattached from vehicle. The vehicle did not hit another vehicle or anything else solid. The vehicle was in motion on two way street where the vehicle was keeping straight with no turns.”

NHTSA complaint #11001978, filed 2017-06, 130,000 miles

“Valve stems ( that are metal and have a sensor) are corroding are literally snapping off. I've contacted Jeep directly and customer service states that it's not covered under warranty and there is no recalls on this issue. I've replaced 3 valve stems in one week. My latest one happened today on an interstate that could have resulted in a horrible crash. I do have documentation of receipts that I can't upload at the moment that state bad valve stems.”

NHTSA complaint #10968485, filed 2017-03, 156,474 miles

“Tire air fill valve stem corroded due to road salt. Common issue on Jeep forums. The alloy metal just evaporates over time and snaps off when adding air or washing the rims but have heard of them coming apart driving down the road. Seems to occur just below the valve cap edge. Switched to rubber valve stems but lost auto tire air pressure monitor.”
