Example complaints

Equipment: “Malfunction of an auto-leveling hydraulic jack. While in transit the left front jack extended nearly coming in contact with the roadway. If the jack would have come into contact with the roadway the consequences could have been catastrophic. I have had problems with the jacks since I first purchased the trailer. I have had the trailer jacks looked at or repaired by the dealer on at least three occasions since purchasing this vehicle in sept of 2013. Please investigate this problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10648438, filed 2014-10, 3,000 miles

Body and structure: “The latch to the rear emergency window broke. (I discovered this while opening the adjacent window for ventilation). This allows the window to flap open and closed (on its hinge) as you travel down the road. The window is for emergency exit so the latch has not been used and appears to have broken from metal fatigue. Cheap part made with cheap aluminum metal.”

NHTSA complaint #10745539, filed 2015-08, 5,000 miles

Electrical system: “The electric brakes on my new 2014 Keystone Montana were not working! I purchased the trailer new in katy, tx and before pulling it back home to nevada an rv repair service in baytown, tx had torun new temporary wires from pin box to brakes?. The repair shop's finding was supply and ground wires shorted somewhere in underbelly?. The temporary wiring got me home, but a basic safety item such as brakes on a 12,000 lb trailer should be tested before the trailer is allowed off their property.”
