“When the ABS brakes activate while going at a very slow speed during snowy or rainy weather the steering wheel locks and the dashboard lights come on. I have no control of the car. It's very scary. Very much a safety issue. I took it to the shop, but they didn't come up with anything. It has happened about 5 times over the past 2 years. The mileage varies. The most recent incident the vehicle had 210,000 miles”

NHTSA complaint #11374697, filed 2020-11, 210,000 miles

“This vehicle has 65,000 miles on it and yesterday I did the third break job this van has had. No vehicle should go through breaks as fast as this one does. On top of that, my airbag light has been on since 20,000 miles and all Kia dealers I have brought this van to refuses to look into it. Now that I am no longer under warranty with Kia I plan on bringing it to another shop.”

NHTSA complaint #10864308, filed 2016-05, 65,000 miles

“It is almost impossible while driving on a daily basis to not step on the brakes while also depressing the accelerator simultaneously. I believe this is a design flaw, since I've been driving for 42 years and have driven dozens upon dozens of makes and models and never once encountered an issue where the brake & accelerator are positioned in such a way that, unless you pick up your foot completely off the accelerator and deliberately replace it to the far left of the brake pedal, then you find yourself pressing both at once causing the car to lurch forward while you are trying to stop. …”

NHTSA complaint #10435337, filed 2011-11, 50 miles

“The auto was diagnosed with a leaking ABS system which is an ongoing problem with this auto maker. The dealership stated there are currently no parts in the US to replace it. Not sure when they will be available. They want to charge me $2900 to buy the part not including labor costs. It seems this model is not currently under recall so I will have to pay. Told me not to drive the car or park it in the garage. They also refuse to give me a loaner car. I am sure this replacement part should be included with the other model recalls. They have a problem and want the consumer to pay. …”

NHTSA complaint #11570473, filed 2024-02

“The contact owns a 2012 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 5 MPH and making a right turn, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond causing the vehicle to accelerate independently. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000.”
