“I had noticed a week prior to driving to work everyday that my brakes were sometimes going to the floor and sometimes stopping all the way up making the pedal hard to push. I drive 20 miles both directions daily so I am on the highway to work. On a monday morning I exited off the interstate and I had no brakes they went all the way to the floor so I immediately drove it to the nearest brake repair shop just down the street from where I work. I had just had my car at the dealership on friday prior to the happening on monday for a complete service. …”
NHTSA complaint #11256596, filed 2019-09, 93,000 miles“Continious soft brake pedal , with failure of brakes a couple of times nearly causing wreck. Auto inspected by Reineke Ford Findlay, Oh. Needs replacement of ABS brake module - hydrolic and electrical. No warning lights ever. Ford needs to extend the ABS module recall to include additional years, one of those being my 2014 MKX. To add to problem, even if I could afford to fix $2,000.00 repair......parts are on backorder........hence defining what a problem this is! This has been going on since April 2024.”
NHTSA complaint #11613005, filed 2024-09“I was driving and went to apply the brakes and they went almost to the floor, with very little braking ability. Thankfully I was going uphill and the car in front of me was not too close or I would have hit that car. And in a snowstorm to boot! I had no warning lights or any other indication that my brakes were going to suddenly go very soft. I got the car to my mechanic and he stated that the brake booster was leaking and needed to be replaced, and that is what caused the loss of pressure in the braking system. …”
NHTSA complaint #11511044, filed 2023-03“A year ago, Lincoln issued a voluntary recall for a safety issue affecting loss of power brake assist due to a problem with the Electronic Brake Booster, identical to the recall recently issued for newer models. I took my Lincoln to the dealership, only to be told they cannot fix it unless it is happening when you bring it in. It is a very sporadic failure, lasts for a short time, and impossible to predict. So, while they claimed to have issued a 'voluntary recall', it is ineffective since the sporadic nature makes it impossible to get it fixed. …”
NHTSA complaint #11677702, filed 2025-08“In 2021 I took vehicle in for intermittent soft brakes where the pedal would suddenly sink to the floor. Dealer replaced brake booster under warranty. Issue was still intermittent and 2 months into driving after the booster was replaced I suddenly lost all brakes. Took vehicle to dealer and now I am out of warranty and they claim there is a bad Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) for the ABS system. Said there’s nothing they can do and it’s a separate issue even though it’s the same issue they failed to correct previously. The part number is DT4Z-2C215-A. …”
