“While driving the vehical started to make noise took it to first mechanic shop near bye and they told use the AC compressor was failing but it would be ok then on the way back home the car started to smoke from the compressor because the clutch had seized up we pulled over otherwise im sure we would have broken the belt causeing more damage.”

NHTSA complaint #10473204, filed 2012-08, 52,870 miles

“Like tons of other reports online, my 2007 CX-7 is having a timing chain/vvt actuator failure at around 40000miles. Luckily, after reading the reports online, I told my Mazda dealership about this problem and they are in the process of repairing while timing chain was at its breaking point (that would have resulted in a blown up engine while driving).”

NHTSA complaint #10353480, filed 2010-09, 40,000 miles

“My 2007 CX-7 had been making a noise for a couple of weeks so I had it checked out by two different places and was told by both that the timing chain is about to break. It has 66k miles which seems low to be having this kind of problem. I will be taking it to the Mazda dealership but since I'm over the 60k my warranty has expired.”

NHTSA complaint #10354063, filed 2010-09, 66,200 miles

“2007 Mazda CX-7. 47,000 miles. Clean engine and clean oil per the service desk at the Mazda dealership. Pin related to timing chain broke, which caused the timing chain to break and ruined the entire engine. My car died in the middle of a very busy road and another vehicle almost collided with me as I slowly tried to move it over to the side of the road before it stopped altogether. …”

NHTSA complaint #10346868, filed 2010-08, 47,959 miles

“This vehicle has caused me nothing but problems! I have had it for 3 years and it has been in the shop 4 times and this last time is the transmission at 70,000 miles! This is ridiculous...Mazda needs to clean up it's act. Customers should not have charges like this early on in the life of a vehicle. The vehicle is gorgeous but perhaps they should have spent a little more time putting it together as it doesn't matter for eye appealing it is when it doesn't run!”
