“Air bag light stays on. When starting car, get 3 dings twice, pause, repeat ... I have been told by a local dealer it will cost $600-$1200 to fix. Considering the number of complaints on this issue and the fact that it is a safety issue, why has NHTSA not required a recall? Since I cannot afford the cost, I guess I will have to live with it as I am sure many others are doing.”

NHTSA complaint #11123013, filed 2018-08, 48,000 miles

“The air bag light on the driver side stays on and sometimes blinks. This car only has 21,523 miles on it. I'm told this is an indication of a malfunctioning air bag operation. Has a recall been issued on this malfunction. The air bag light comes on when the car is stationary and moving. This has created a fear of the air bag not operating correctly in the event of an accident. The repair for it is unknown to me.”

NHTSA complaint #11255667, filed 2019-09, 21,500 miles

“At start up I noticed the amber air bag light stays on - then I restarted the car and read air bag light blinking 3 and 4 times. Took the car to mechanic, after testing with some sort of computer he found out that the passenger side seat belt pretensioner was bad and needs replacement.”

NHTSA complaint #10576167, filed 2014-04, 84,567 miles

“My daughter and I were rear ended and our 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis gs airbags never deployed in spite of being hit three times by a delivery driver with a box truck at the intersection of pembroke and dixie highway in hollywood. I just learned on national tv that ford obtained fake airbags from suppliers in china. If this is or isn't true, should ford compensate us in some way?”

NHTSA complaint #10479891, filed 2012-10, 157,000 miles

“This started out with lights and windshield wipers cutting off and on with no apparent wearing. Also burning smell. Took it in got that fixed. I was informed this had occurred in others same exact thing. Right after that next thing was dash lights for ABS, airbag, and anti skid stay on. I took it to 2 places. Was told it was a module unit by one place the other couldn't find a reason. I have not had it fixed since I couldn't get a clear reason for it, also the car runs fine. The lights must mean something. …”
