“Drivers rear shock rusted off the wheel well causing wheel to snap and metal frame to hit the ground while I was traveling 40 mph. At this time the other wheels locked up and started squealing causing loss of control of vehicle shooting me across lanes and hitting curbs on both sides. This was heard all the way inside a church and they came running out. If I had not been able to gain control it would have flipped. The vehicle is available for inspection. …”
NHTSA complaint #11674297, filed 2025-07“The contact owns a 2009 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated that the windshield retained moisture on the inside and blocked her view. Previously, the passenger side floor board was replaced due to moisture retention. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer several times for the windshield failure. The dealer stated that they could not correct the failure. The manufacturer stated that the windshield moisture retention was a characteristic of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 1,906 and the current mileage was 12,600. Updated 05/09/12 updated 07/06/12”
