“Was at stop light completely stopped. When the light turned green, I stepped on the accelerator and my car did not accelerate. The engine light and another light came on. I tried multiple times to move the car and nothing happened. I powered my car down and restarted it, at this time the car started moving again when I pressed on the accelerator.”
NHTSA complaint #10556990, filed 2013-12, 50,000 miles“When accelerating through an intersection, my vehicle lost acceleration power and the power brakes failed. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle was slowly moved to a side street, backing-up traffic on the busy street. The vehicle was towed to a ford dealership and the diagnosis was that throttle body needed replacing. The service cost me $503 plus tax.”
NHTSA complaint #10558026, filed 2013-12, 25,134 miles“Coming to a stop at a red stop light and then trying to accelerate from red to green light at an intersection my vehicle went into limp mode, it lost power. It would not accelerate pass 10mph. An engine light came on as a orange wrench light. I drove as I could and made to auto zone. They plug in the hand held car computer and it gave the code p2119. Which stands for throttle body.”
NHTSA complaint #10640939, filed 2014-10, 30,000 miles“While I was driving on highway at 70mph - in cruise control, car suddenly starting losing speed. Tried to resume speed but was not able to accelerate, so I pulled over. While stopped, car started acting like it wanted to stall so I shut car off and had it towed to shop. Mechanic states they are getting a throttle body error.”
NHTSA complaint #10512517, filed 2013-05, 50,000 miles“I have no throttle response, engine RPM drop back to an idle, engine runs rough and stalls. No power. Moving to the side of the road, turn engine off and restart and will runs fine, but today this problem recurred every 4 miles. I was only 22 miles from home but that is a lot of stopping along side of the road.”
